_SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS
Three years of research experience in fungal molecular biology, epidemiology and population genetics of the obligate biotroph Peronospora tabacina.
Knowledge of plant genetics, cytogenetics, plant breeding, interspecific hybridization, embryo rescue and culture, characterization, transfer and inheritance of wild genes to cultivated germplasm, host-pathogen interactions.
Ability to work collaboratively on multidisciplinary and international research team projects.
1998-current: Postdoctoral Fellow, Department of Plant Pathology, University of Kentucky.
Use of molecular markers for epidemiological and population studies of Peronospora tabacina. Fungal molecular biology: Experience with DAN extraction, library construction and screening, DNA sequencing, PCR techniques, electrophoresis, Southern blotting, cell biology. RFLP analysis and population genetics. Growing and maintaining an obligate pathogen.
1997-1998: Postdoctoral Research Associate, Department of Crop and Soil Environmental Sciences, Virginia Tech.
Association of seedcoat mottling with plant reactions to soybean mosaic virus and peanut mottle virus. Conducted virus inoculations and detection tests in the greenhouse and in the field (planting, pollinating and data collection). Supervising and coordinating field and greenhouse work. Data management, statistical analyses.

Plant genetics, cytogenetics, and breeding: Sunflower interspecific hybridization, embryo rescue and culture, characterization, transfer and inheritance of wild genes to cultivated germplasm, host-pathogen interactions. Root parasitic weed. Conducted studies of inheritance and allelism of different sunflower sources of resistance. Gained experience with design and implementation of large scale projects.
